Thanks for all the answers. It seems that, just because I am playing 2/1, does not mean all bids between us must start out that way.

If I am using 2/1 and my partner opens 1H and I hold: [hv=pc=n&n=sakq65432h2d32c32&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1hp]133|200[/hv] What is my bid? My guess would be 1NT, followed by Spades on my second bid. Alternatively, what is my response to 1H if I have: [hv=pc=n&n=sakqjt432h2da2c32&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=1hp]133|200[/hv] Glenn

TWO4BRIDGE: I do not remember the exact hand, but I did have 4 hearts to the ACE and 2 spades with no honors. As I am always learning new things, I not did take a double of 1H to indicate spades, from my partner. Should I have? ahydra: Thanks, that is what I told my partner.

In a recent scenario I was sitting North. East opened 1 Heart My partner, South, doubled West bid 4 Hearts I was sitting with four hearts to the ACE and 11 HCP. I doubled the 4H bid. East Passed My partner bid 4S and went down 2. My partner felt that I should have either bid my best suit or passed. I disagreed, because of the intervening 4H bid by West. Some comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

In some places on the internet I see that counting distribution points should only be done after you and your partner establish a suit. In other places I see that you should always count distribution points, except in NT. Can anyone explain why the differing explanations? Thanks

The other day I sitting South. East opened 1NT. I had 7 clubs to the AK and 19 HCP. I bid 2C. My partner felt I should have let them have the bid of 1NT and set them. In hindsight I understand that with a total of 40 HCP, East and I had most of them. Some feedback would be appreciated on whether you would bid or pass and why. Consider the scoring IMPs.
