  1. Please see this post: https://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/87612-lin-files-and-handviewer/
  2. BBO main club, unknown opps, IMPs. White aga red. you deal and you get: AT852 K K AKJ742 1) Playing 2/1 what do u open and why? and what you plan rebid? 2) In case u play some kind of strong club, would you open that as 1C?
  3. I agree. Being "dropped off" someone's friend list is not a pleasant feeling, and it's kind of privacy violation to know who third person chose for friend. Also, it's very embarassing when someone says (for example to TD) "I made u friend" and you don't 'follow' them back - are you rude or arrogant or u just want your blue list under 60 names? But worst of all web features is "compatibility". I seem an alien, incompatible with anyone except zia, j. lall and alike that will never in life play with me.. I am even incompatibe with my own hider lol!! If it wasn't annoying, i'd call it hilarious :)
  4. FD use is pretty important in IAC, as we have year long course on OCP - Oliver Clarke's precision, that has (if not wrong) 9 different FD CCs. Our management nickname, bbo_iac is one on the list still able to use window client, so we won't have problem passing updated FD CC to OCP students. Yet, every pardship is allowed change bits and peaces of the system, and make changes in FD; and they won't be able to update it, as it wouldn't be general system change, but just for them 2. Same goes for any non-IAC pardship that altered say 2/1 advanced BBO card, and now wants to add Bergen raises, they won't be able to update it. That's why pretty please to give it a thought, and TY :)
  5. Please, pretty please, give to it some thought. Thank you!
  6. Altho the "How to.. " was made primarly for IAC members, anyone is free to peek in there and eventually get around basics in web BBO. Link is: http://iac-at-web-bbo.site123.me/
  7. Today I was talking to friend of a friend that's trying to adjust to web version, and first time i heard someone confused because there are TWO <Options> buttons; 1 under results and another at the top of the table. Maybe it wouldn't be bad idea call the latter as "Settings"? That's not supposed to happen, it may have been a temporary glitch. Do you see this regularly? In fact, for people following lots of players, the web version is better than the download version. The download version has a limit on the size of the friends list, and if you have too many friends than this you may not see them all; you're over the limit. The web version has no such limit. Well, I often suffer from weak connection. And it happens that in web version my friend list won't load, sometimes even gives floating blue message as "Couldn't load friend list" or news feed or alike. And how I used to get around it? By logging thru old window client, that never ever had any problems with connection quality, it counts loged players for some time but then produces friends list, sends messages and joins tables almost without any delay. As a matter of fact, when one joins table that has played lots of boards, say 70+, in web - if connection isn't great - it may take 3+ mins before u can see pard's profile or bid or click on a card, as takes that time to load all previously played boards. That's not the case of old client, large number of boards delay your action, but only very slighthly, only couple of seconds.
  8. Very nice post, I'd hope that's how most BBO users understand.
  9. In browser, when we are in any room, specifically some club, private or public, at top left we can choose to see 1) Open tables, 2) Full tables or 3) tables with friends. Altho, all very useful, it would be great if we could also see ALL tables currently open. That's is because when we run specific event in the club, being it marathon or just team matches start-up for example, we really need to have a full picture of which tables are full, where are empty spaces, etc. Some time ago there was suggestion to include a button of par-score near GIB under the results. That would be very helpfull to non-expert players. Thanks!
  10. Sorry, Kaitlyn, with all due respect, BUT YOUR previous post in this topic does not belong here, with all nice and long reply it got from Diana; while ignoring all questions previosly asked. I am glad you had nice turn out for your lesson, but you likely do not know IAC and BIL hold weekly or so lessons with often 50+ students following. Most are continuous lessons as from Hondo or OliverC, that are going all year long. I know that new users must use web version. But killing old version will affect BBO_IAC announcing to members that certain lesson will be held at specific time and day. And we won't be able add newbies to a club. So it kills the club and it's purpose in the root. Awww, Mr Ace, you of all I respect most in forums.. You are SO RIGHT. BUT, but, we just must protest and whine, even if in vain, for having legs amputated? ;)
  11. Such decision is, by all means, sad and bad. I personally use web mostly, because of some of its new features, but as a designer myself, I still think that old version was zillion times better designed and friendlier for a user. Yet, that's the least of the troubles.. Having in mind steady decline of number of bridge players, I thought BBO was encouraging people to learn the game, along with all good world-known bridge players and recognized bridge teachers. For years it was home to BIL, IAC, ACOL, only to mention few clubs, that helped so many players, and in so many ways. Imho BBO is cruelly punishing all those that are still learning - no events would be organized, no lessons would be announced, and what teacher would want share their experience and waste their time to only 2-3 players that happened by chance to join the table? Is it easy to ignore that a tournament restricted to certain group of players, alike in skill and experience, free from runners and fake experts, would be better enviroment for them? We have been told that old version won't be updated, and had to accept that, fine... But I fail to see what advantages closing the clubs down can can bring to BBO. So what's the real REAL reason BBO now wants old version dead and buried?? . . Why none answered this ?? Edit: Another question please... Why this news weren't published on BBO News feed?? Not all read forums and all its topics.. Does someone hope get as little negative feedback as possible?
  12. Opps, you are right, hand was to be with lousy diamond doubleton, 6 card "empty" clubs. Thanks all for replies; yet I am still bit confused. As you said 3D is not needed to show hand with minors, as 2D is unlimited; why we need TWO bids to show splinter (3D and 4D)??
