What hand would bid 3H here? Assuming it's not a splinter (lack of heart bidding suggests not, then a hand like KQJxxx of hearts and the A of clubs would fit the bill. With 3 cover cards and a good club suit, I think options are both 3NT and 4H, both of which get doubled. Are split scores allowed? Some percentage of 3NT X - lots and 4H X - lots.

[hv=pc=n&s=sakq9872hadak32ca]133|100[/hv] What on earth do you do with this one? If you open 2C, partner bids 2D. You do not play an artificial negative like 2H. If you bid 3S (after 2C 2D), partner raises to 4.

Jump cuebid in 4th seat

2 and 3 struck me as obvious splinters, but I couldn't vote for that. -
3C doesn't show a 6th club or a good club suit? Then no. You need 3C to show good clubs to make East go past 3NT.
-
I agree with the above - partner cannot have a 4D bid with 2 low clubs, so I bid 4NT, expecting my next bid to be 5NT.
-
Well, I held the hand in question, and I spent a few minutes thinking about what I should do, before bidding 5D. Partner held: Jx Q1098 9xxx Qxx 5D made on the nose when they led a club, won by East, followed by a heart switch. The opponents suggested to the TD at the end of the hand that 4D should be treated as a slam try, as that is usual over a gambling 3nt, and that South (me) should bid 4H as a cue or bid 6D.

[hv=pc=n&s=sa2haj5dakjt763c8&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1sp2s3n(Alerted)p4dp]133|200[/hv] Without any specific agreement, you bid 3NT at your first turn to call. You hope that this is to play, although you haven't specifically discussed it. You think 3S would be Western Cue, and a 3NT opening would be gambling (solid minor, no outside stoppers). Unfortunately, partner alerts your 3NT as unusual, showing both minors. He then bids 4D. a) What does the UI suggest here? 4C would be P/C over a 3NT opening, but 4D is undiscussed. b) What do you call now?

4S strikes me as automatic. If slam makes here I'll bet it needed some very favourable breaks, such as Kx of spades onside.
-
4C must be right now. The difficult question is what we do afterwards. You aren't going to make 6nt on power, so you need a fit. Unless you can get a club raise you have to settle for game I think. So I will raise 5C to 6C but leave 4H.
-
2D, but only because of the lead. I don't mind double on 3S but I only really have one thing to be proud of here, and that's the diamonds. Double invites too many spades from partner. Pass could be best.
-
I bid 2S here and don't consider it a problem. 2H is vile. I hate 2nt with an outside low doubleton, so would prefer 3D to 2NT. But 2S is standout for me.
-
What does the tank suggest? That partner was considering options besides pass. If you had bid 3NT I would disallow it as I suggest the hesitation suggests not being minimum, so 3NT would be more successful than 2NT or double. I don't think the hesitation suggests double over 2nt though.

2H for me. Hating it, but 2S will get me too high. -
Preference - need advice

Basically, if I want to force to game opposite a 2344 10-11 count, I bid 646. If not, I bid 664. Hand 1 would be a 646 hand, hand 2 a 664 hand. -
Partner has 10 solid in a minor and decides to pass it out in 4th seat...

Anyone who ever plays club bridge plays against pairs like this all the time. If you want to avoid it go to the county green point swiss pairs.
-
If 3D is definitely some sort of "I can't bid game myself but don't want to make a weakish 3H bid", then 3D is clearcut. If 3D could be taken as natural, then it's awkward. The west hand has clearly improved, but it can't bid game by itself.

An attempt (South dealer) 1D 3H 3S 4C 4H 5C 6D
-
If 6H is cold, we're getting a bottom regardless. I don't sac with a hand like this. My vote was to lead the A of diamonds.
-
People don't often pre-empt over 2nt, since there's rarely any need to. So I'm going to assume partner has a stiff club and bid 6D.
-
2nd seat VUL (read the OP) this is a classic 2H bid. I once had almost this hand and partner raised to 6H on Kx of hearts, knowing that I would have my bid. (David Collier if he still reads this). We won imps.

Well, if you bid 6H you get doubled and go for a lot. Posted Yesterday, 17:37 View Postmr1303, on 2016-May-06, 07:59, said: Ok, so after 1S you get a 1NT reply from partner. Now what? You don't play checkback after a 1H opening. If don't play checkback including nmf and two way stayman etc modern bidding gadgets, that only shows your problem make no sense. You don't play these after a 1H opening. You do play them after a 1C or 1D opening. -

We are. 2/1 style. You can bid 3D if you like, which would be GF and would probably show 5 diamonds. Partner would bid a slow 3H after 3D. -
