Opponents in Individual Howell Tournament
Curls77 replied to gjfeldman's topic in BBO Tournaments Discussion
If you create individual clocked tournament with N-1 rounds, where N is number of players in the tournament, players will get new partner every round and end up parding all other players exactly once. -
Please use +private+ string when creating team matches. Manuals are here: Setting up team matches on BBO https://blog.bridgebase.com/2020/05/01/setting-up-team-matches-on-bbo/ Description strings for team matches https://news.bridgebase.com/2020/11/17/description-settings-that-will-help-your-team-match-run-more-smoothly/

BBO has couple of options for independent clubs and private groups that are not affiliated to any National Bridge Organization. Please ask for more information by writing to tournaments@bridgebase.com

Unable to join reserved seat In in Casual
Curls77 replied to chunghomko's topic in BBO Support Forum
NOT TRUE. We had lesson in IAC club last wednesday where teacher opened table in windows client (V1). None of V3 members could see or join that table, invit or not. It's been how long now? 2 weeks? and not yet servers communicate, yet we still get this half truths from yellows who are supposed guide us, all the while bbo support only mails ticket saying too busy help? If there ever was one rushed bbo decison this was it, and bbo is not dealing well with consequences. or is it what they wanted = kill casual? -

You can only see reservations and join table if the host and you use same bbo version. -
Private Club member can't join club events
Curls77 replied to GG_Bridge's topic in BBO Support Forum
TY very much, that will help :) We are really trying not be PITA, so any mid solution is fine. One weekly update will be just fine, if possible. Meanwhhile, it all should be solved and get immediate answer when servers can communicate, is that correct? I just wonder how soon it will be, almost passed 2 weeks. And while I nag, allow me remind that 2 months passed since no free trnys, -
Private Club member can't join club events
Curls77 replied to GG_Bridge's topic in BBO Support Forum
Untrue Barry. NO MEMBER added to Iac after server split can join IAC room. NONE. So they definately do not share same database, because on main server they can join exclusive trnys and they get bbo mail with club events, sent daily. We have tested and tested. There was a way around in V2 when we would invite non-mmeber to join table, they could then stand but still remain in club and able join another table. That doesnt work in V3 either. Which for security reasons is ok, but we just can NOT get new members assist lessons, unless we bother teacher reserve seats for them, authorized members. -
Private Club member can't join club events
Curls77 replied to GG_Bridge's topic in BBO Support Forum
I am afraid neither of answers understood the problem. This member has been added to the club on the day servers got split. She can join IAC tournament, which is exclusive for iac members, "outsiders" are automatically rejected by bbo. So, clearly "main" server sees Tazz as IAC member. Once she passes to casual, she can see club managers and TDs online, as well as we see her, but she is denied entry to IAC room, or any IAC table, getting blue screen error that says "it is a private club and you need register". Logical conclusion is that casual server does not recognize her as member, I wonder if bbo just copied our member list as it was on the day of separation, and now of course does not update it? We asked yellows, but they do not know how to help. We send mails to bbo support, and other than ticket we were never answered. Now we know same happens to ALL members we added to IAC since the server separation. They can not see lessons, main reason why they joined the club. Very frustrating. PS: Needless say it has nothing to do with Flash, members have to use V3 to access lessons using bbo voice. EDIT: Just remembered another fact. When bbo_iac, club manager, broadcasts announcement of lesson just about to start, which until recently went to all members online as private chat, now goes only to members at main server, which again is pretty silly, coz ones that await lesson in casual are not informed. -
Hand editor/hand record generator
Curls77 replied to rmunson1's topic in Suggestions for the Software
As so many good things V2 (flash version) had and are omitted in V3 (html), there is no way edit, alter and save the played hand. Nor you can save bunch of hands u watched at teacher's table, but instead gotta do 5 clicks to save one by one. I am sure the recording of altered hand is somewhere on bbo's to-do list, but so far they have not done even minor requests members asked, as chat color, while doing all other "improvements", who knows when this will come to top to be fixed. There are external sources as aabridge or dummy solver to get around it, but neither is too user friendly. -
https://blog.bridgebase.com/2020/05/15/4-boards-express-and-12-boards-express-tournaments-are-here/ I know it's not really useful post this, but I have to protest in name of all free Trnys and specially in name of Clubs of BBO. So ban on us continues, yet server can and will host MORE trnys? I understand it's money, and bbo is business, BUT PLS!! Bingos, bot express, prime day longs and alikes are all but real bridge, pls do ur best allow forever members play in normal, fair, human tournaments, bbo has members from all around the world, it is just not fair ban them on account of acbl running their closed member events, and offer them instead 6 paid for, non-real-bridge-tournaments per hour.

Well, things rapidly change and I'd like redraw some of what I said earlier. We now DO see people using other versions and tables / trnys they created. So, it's not all that bad. I fully understand that most bbo players couldn't care less for private clubs, and BBO has been discouraging creation of new ones for years now. But clubs that still remain active are either for beginners, or interm-adv, or specific systems hard find in main bbo room, or even total points scoring. We are not talking about clubs run by and for couple of friends, but where hundreds of people learn the game, improve and maybe one day we watch them in vugraph at bbo :D All these clubs have been part of BBO since it's beginning, with hard work of so many volunteers. It will be great shame for them to end.

Will this than be death of public and private clubs? Because only club management tools are in V1, not by our choice, but because they were never integrated into any other bbo version. And if manager of the club, can not see people in club, nor members can see the admin, it becomes one queer twilight zone. <_<

Not ALL bbo players use html, many prefer flash and quite few still use oldest window client. BUT, even tho each of them click causal, they will not see each other, only people using the same bbo version : ( And will need refresh friend list. More, if they enter IAC or ACOL club, for example only, they will not see tables opened in different version. Html users can not see lobby club chat that calls for tables to be filled, unless they are already at the table created by html. And even if ban on free trnys is lifted, we won't be pulled into trnys if we are in casual. Same for team matches. I still think that upgrade should not have happened until servers able communicate.
