  1. AJ9XX Qxx you have plenty of entries and cannot afford to lose a trick. Of course, you must place the K with west. So, how do you takle this one?
  2. hi all, thx for your responses. Well, GIB doubled for take-out with three spades and alerted it as: 2 or less spades and, after my questionable cue, announced 4-5 clubs, but held only three, but held 5 diamonds. hmmm. as far as i understand the meaning of my cue-bid, the purpose is to set up a forcing sequence after the take-out double, but what i realy do not know is, how take-out doubler proceeds thereupon. maybe gib takes it as a game-forcing bid and lacking stoppers in opener´s suit, looking for a fit. i took the 4C bid as a 5-card suit and not interest in 3NT.
  3. hi gib experts, pls look up the bidding of this one and tell me, why my gib got that much confused? robot bidding lunacy thx in advance Martin
  4. Hi Guys, i am GMT+2 and can join in. I have a regular partner with whom i play precision, but 2/1 is fine for me, too. We or me are interested in good, but friendly competition in order to learn and improve.
  5. hi bbo-fellows, after a strong 1 club opening, showing 16+ hcp, bidding was as follows: [hv=pc=n&s=sk72hk63dq876ct72&n=sa4hq54daj9caj964&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=1cd1n(8+%20hcp%2C%20game-force%2C%20bal.)p2c(general%20control%20ask)p2d(0-2%20controls%20%5BA%3D2%2CK%3D1%5D)p3c(asks%20for%20club%20holding)p3h(Hx%20or%20xxx%20%5BH%3DA%2CK%2CQ%5D)p3n(sign-off)ppp]266|200[/hv] south became declarer in 3NT. east´s double was not alerted, thus showed hcp strength and was for take-out. West leads the spade 5. how do you see the spade position after this lead? what is your general plan of attack? thanx in advance martin
  6. "2nd hand low", "3rd hand high" and "splitting honeurs" as (so called) guidelines have nothing to do with table position or trick count, they just apply to you, when you (as a defender) are in the certain situation. For example, "2nd hand low" does apply to you as west, when south leads up to north, and it may apply to east (a few tricks later), if north leads up to south. But, please do not follow these guidelines blindly (like a roboter). Bridge is a complicated game and especialy defense is the hardest part of it. There are many situations, where the "2nd hand low" guideline wants you to play a low card, but the winning defensive play would be to play "2nd hand high", i.e. to prevent your partner from beeing endplayed a trick later or to save partner`s entry(, if, defending a nt contract, his long suit is not established yet). The same must be said regarding "3rd hand high" and "splitting honors". Try to learn to work out, what is going on among all four hands. This will improve your defense.
  7. 1. take some sort of "checklist", e.g. "Partnership Understandings" from Mike Lawrence, which i know personaly, or some of the above mentioned, and make sure, that you and your partner are on the same wavelength regarding your parterership bidding system. As mentioned above, focus especially on: competitive bidding, balancing, when is "system on/off", etc. 2. do some regular "live" practice (on bbo, in your favorite club) and review/discuss the hands with your partner !! concentrate on misunderstandings and try to clear as many of them up.
  8. Hi, because defense is the hardest part of the game, every beginner should start learning as early as possible. I recommend Eddy Kantars "Kantar On Defense", Part 1 and 2.
  9. Hi, i should have mentioned, that i was on holidays last week. Sorry for the delayed answer. Since i live in Germany and do have do that working stuff, i am available for playing at weekdays about 7 p.m. or later (European Time Zone). Saturdays and Sundays any time. I do play a version of precision, that is orientated to weinsteins´s "Precision Today". But the systematic details will be discussed in detail within the training sessions. So, Thanx for your interest and let´s start playing :-)
  10. Hi All, I am looking for a Partner to play a Precision Club System on a regular basis on BBO. The main focus is on learning the system and playing regularly. I do have nearly 10 years of bridge experience and i am not a precision newbie, but did not play the system regularly. If you are interested, please be so kind and give me a short message via bbo. Greetings Martin
  11. Hi Markus, my name is Martin, 36, from Germany. I am playing bridge for round about 6 years online, but mostly in robot tournaments and thus i do not have a partner, with whom i play on a regular basis. I would like to participate in non-robot (bbo) tournaments on a regular basis or just play for fun on a regular basis with a regular partner. My self-estimation at the moment: between "intermediate plus" and "advanced minus". My prefered Bidding System is Precision, but i also feel fine with ACOL or a 5-Card-Major-System. My BBO-Name is MartyD24, please feel free to contact me anytime, if you are interested in playing with me. So Long Martin
  12. Hello Precision Fellows, i am interested in practising Precision with you, so just leave me a message on bbo to discuss further details. if anybody is interested in playing with me, just contact me: MartyD24 Greetings Martin
