  1. But bidding 4♦ also preempts your own side from 3nt(which also might be your last making contract) :)
  2. Kryztof Martens are proposing that the double in this sequence is negative with four ♠, or a game going hand without a stopper in ♥. After the double 3♠ is forcing from opener, and responder can then bid 3nt to show no 4 card ♠ and no stopper in ♥.
  3. Don't answer this before you have taken this into account: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_ratio :)
  4. I think this opening sounds interesting. How about changing the answers: 2nt: Ask opener to choose minor(Only inconvenient with 4-5-2-2 but then opener might pass?) 3♣: Invitational plus with spades, possibly also done with a hand that wants to play 4spades or 3nt. 3♦: Invitational + with hearts. I have not given to much thoughts to this responses, so probably i am missing something.. Which 2♦ and 2♠ opening would you use together with this? Multi and Muiderberg ?
  5. Yes, that seems to be the correct solution. It seems like west is:3-6-2-2. If west has only one diamond we endplay east with the forth diamond.
  6. I think it is time to check the back of the cards..
  7. Clearly this was a very difficult hand for the system. After 32519 opened 1♠, his partner was in a difficult spot. Remember that Jacoby 2nt had recently been dumped from their system (See this link) So what should he do? He choose the practical bid, and went straight to RKCB. Unlucky for him, the slam failed. If only he could have figured out that his partner had a twosuiter with spades and clubs and minimum hcp’s, the slam could have been avoided. But clearly there were no way to figure this out, so it was a very unlucky hand. Don’t blame the rule of 20.. PS: How long will it be before we have the thread: “ Is it time to dump RKCB?”
  8. Yes, but I still gets suprised when GIB forgets my previous passes, no matter how many times i have seen it before.. :)
  9. No, I think you are wrong. First, what would you learn from playing two rounds of clubs? Probably nothing. And if you choose to set up your heart trick, I think west can lock you in dummy, so that you cannot get your third heart trick. You did not give any information about what West threw on the second trick.. But still, i think your best chance is to play for west to be 0-5-4-4, and it is likely that he have that shape. So when you win with the queen of diamond i would just play for setting up heart tricks immediately.
  10. Here is a stupid hand that i played in a robot tournament. Obviously I should have checked more carefully what GIB thought my bids meant, but it seems strange the way he evaluates my 5♣ after i initially passed 3♣. Anyway I think this is the first time i have ever stopped in a partial, and later after the opponents balances I end up in a slam making. http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=pn|DrMunk,~~M3952,~~M3950,~~M3951|st%7C%7Cmd%7C3S39THTD3TAC38TJKA%2CS2467AHJD478QKC69%2CSJKH34678AD2C257Q%2C%7Crh%7C%7Cah%7CBoard%205%7Csv%7Cn%7Cmb%7C2H%7Can%7CWeak%20two%20bid%20--%206%2B%20H%3B%2010-%20HCP%3B%209%2B%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C2S%7Can%7COvercall%20--%205%2B%20S%3B%2012-18%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C3C%7Can%7C4%2B%20C%3B%201-%20H%3B%2016%2B%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C3S%7Can%7C4%2B%20C%3B%206%2B%20H%3B%2010-%20HCP%3B%2011%2B%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C5C%7Can%7C4%2B%20C%3B%201-%20H%3B%202%2B%20S%3B%203-%208421%20HCP%20in%20S%3B%2022%2B%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C5N%7Can%7C4%2B%20C%3B%206%2B%20H%3B%202-%20S%3B%2010-%20HCP%3B%204-5%208421%20HCP%20in%20S%3B%2011%2B%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C6C%7Can%7C4%2B%20C%3B%201-%20H%3B%202%2B%20S%3B%203-%208421%20HCP%20in%20S%3B%2022%2B%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CCJ%7Cpc%7CC9%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CS9%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CDK%7C
  11. I would bid 3♠. Partner should know that this is constructive since it is in 4th hand. Assuming that spades are running, partner needs 3 tricks for us to make game. Most of the time he would raise to 4♠ with that. Another advantage with 3♠ is that we still could reach 3nt, which could be our only making game.. The gain from bidding only 3♠ is when partner holds a hand with soft values and 3♠ is our highest making contract. And yes 3♠ is still a preempt since opponents could still have the highest making contract, but obviously it is a constructive preempt.
  12. I liked your analysis, especially the part about limited options in trump..
  13. And how often does crawling stayman helps you stop in 2♥ or 2♠ after an 2nt opening?
  14. Yes, after your suggested line I came down to: - Qx Kx AK - Ax -- JT9x Now I forgot to take for the AK in clubs prior to playing the heart queen. Very expensive and frustrating. When you get confirmation that east has 4 clubs (when he shows out in spades), you could just claim.
  15. [hv=pc=n&s=sq4haj8732d3cjt94&n=s853hkq96dk865cak&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=3d3h3s4hppp]266|200[/hv] Here is a hand that i played recently, it was very frustrating since in the ending i should have known better, but ended up doing something stupid :( You might not agree with 3♥, but the final contract is a good one. I got the ace of spade lead, followed by the king. East followed with the 9 and 7 indicating an even number. Next west shifted to the jack of diamond. You don¨t want east on lead, so you try a small diamond from dummy. But east plays the queen and continues with the two of diamond. What is your plan now? If the hearts are 2-1 even I might make 4 hearts on a good day, so you will find out that hearts are 3-0 when you play a high heart..
  16. IMO all hands should be opened. It does not look close to me, with strong suits, and no rebid problems. Only hand that is somewhat worring is the one without aces.
  17. ;) I was thinking similar to you, but thought that it should be the 3nt contracts that could solve this "problem".
  18. ... Are Reverse Reverse Kokish better than Reverse Kokish?
  19. Yes. West bid fine. But east has so much more than he needed to have, so he clearly is worth 5♦ over 3♥. If I was east i would only think about how bad my hand could have been, and then 5♦ should be pretty easy to bid.
