  1. What are your 3 level bids? Or 2N? This should always guarantee 4S so you don't miss the Spade fit. If worse comes to worse, use minor stayman and 4D for 6 card diamond slam try. If partner responds clubs, you'll override clubs for diamonds and if partner denies 4 clubs anyway, 4D can only promise 6 diamonds and say nothing about clubs since you would have raised with 4
  2. I was wondering how most people handled hands with 5♥ and 4♠ and invitational if they played transfers after transfers and 2♠ rebid after stayman as 5 cards invitational.
  3. How do people handle it if a 2S rebid after stayman is a 5 card spade invite?
  4. Out of curiosity, any thought to putting the 6 card heart invite into 2S and/or swapping the meanings of 1N - 2♦; 2♥ - 3♥ and 1N - 2♦; 2♥ - 2♠ - something - 3♥?
  5. Random thought, is it really necessary to have 1NT - 2♥; 2♠ - 3♥ = 5-5 invite? You already have the sequence before 1NT - 2♦; 2♥ - 3♦ as an artificial bid showing 5-5. You can simply play that as invite+ and haev an extra bid in spades. *Edit: And for those who like to "right-side" contracts, 1NT - 2♦; 2♥ - 3♦ will end on the declarer deciding the contract and playing it.
  6. Since when could 3N not be a valid sacrifice? Partner could well have a weak hand and either diamonds, clubs, or diamonds and clubs. 3N could very well be a sacrifice, especially favorable. Partner holding minors could possibly be waiting to play in 3N as a sacrifice or running to 5m if they double to make them figure out the contract at a higher level. You've made your call with a weak 2.
  7. It matters if 1H or 1S. With 1H, 2C denies 4 Spades so shows 4/5 either way. With 1S, if I have your version of precision correct, where 1N rebid guarantees at least a doubleton, it can be 8+ total minors. I would correct back to Diamonds in both cases. Partner may have another bid coming showing top of range or showing extra club length or diamond length and values.
  8. If you're against a weak field (thus would want to play the same card as them but make better judgement calls or beat them in declarer play or defense), is there any merit to playing a different system in 4th seat. Is there an opinion that a more limited system in 4th seat? ie. Playing 2/1 to match the weak field, is there any reasoning that a limited opener system (like precision or polish club in 4th seat) or a different system (fantunes in 4th) might have gains? - Edit - If this belongs in non-natural system discussion, please move it for me. I was unsure where to place this topic.
  9. I would bid 1NT over a minor with Qx or Jxx. It's an obvious bid for me. It shows the shape, the stopper (Qxx), and the point range. Whether or not you play systems on, you should be able to find 3N. Systems on: stayman, 3N Systems off: cuebid, 3N.
  10. I play: 2S: Size Ask or Clubs 2N: Transfer to Diamonds 3C: Puppet Sometimes I play: 2S: Size Ask or Both minors weak or Diamonds Weak 2N: Some 4441 or club bust 3C: Puppet
  11. In general do people ever bid balancing 2N over a weak 2?
  12. Do people balance with a 13-14 count if your lefty opened a weak 2? (More so if they opened 2M than 2D) Say: 2S - Pass - Pass - ? S - KJx H - xxx D - AJxx C - KJxx or something of the sort.
  13. With the partners I play with (whether kickback or minorwood), over the minors, 4N and 5m would be to play. The cheapest non-5m or non-4N bid, in this case, 5♦, would be queen ask.
