  1. One attempt at this is: "The Director is Called" by John McIlwrath http://www.bridgeshop.com.au/director-is-called-mcilrath-s.html
  2. OTOH if the BIT suggests South was thinking of passing or 1NT? LAs probably PASS or a game try.
  3. Law 58 A. Simultaneous Plays by Two Players A lead or play made simultaneously with another player’s legal lead or play is deemed to be subsequent to it. RHO's lead is the correct lead - LHO is deemed to have played to that lead. If LHO had a ♦, then this would be a revoke and must be corrected. leaving the original play (K♣) as a major penalty card.
  4. Why was the opening bid alerted? Australan alerting regs (5.1 c) say: "Opening two bids which do not promise a holding of 4+ cards in the suit named, or which promise a holding in the suit named and another suit [should be alerted]" - implying that simple weak twos are not alertable.
  5. The bidding pad is normally in the centre of the table, and I've not yet found players who have difficulty reading it (though when player write badly, one sometimes asks to be sure of the bid). Players are encouraged to write clearly and fill the space (that also helps with the "small x" vs "large X" problem). It's not perfect, but generally, as noted by others, no worse than other methods.
  6. Is law 7C relevant here? It specifically says: . While this is written with respect to returning cards, I would assume it applies until the board is commenced (with both sides present) at the next table.
