Having the ability after a robot tournament or the insta tournaments to replay the hands would be so helpful sometimes. You can follow the gib to find the first error you made but then it ends. You can't see what would happen if you took that move but still aren't getting the most that is achievable. Also sometimes you need to replay a hand a few times to catch a concept that is one level above what you see. Sometimes i stare at the gib best play and still don't get it where i think if i could play it through i could get a grasp on it. Even on the bidding vs play and defense, it would be great to see what happens if u try to change yr bidding a bit. Sometimes you can find other players in the tournament that made that move but not always. And it seems a replay ability would be so easy to program, even if it just copied a hand to another spot and let the bot play it from there. Thanks, john (skiborder)

I've always played 1d 1s// 2d 3C as clubs is artificial showing gf and 5 spades. Do others play this and what do you call this convention? My current partner says this bid doesn't exist so i am now perplexed. Any advice or opinions on whether this is a valid bid? With this bid than 1d 1s// 2d 2h shows 5 spades and 4 hearts but is NOT forcing... do others play this way? of course the standard nmf over NT still holds... this is just in addition when a minor is rebid by opener Thank you

I've used the teaching table with voice for years and successfully used the new version. Two weeks ago it stopped working for me . The other two people on our table were fine. I can' t hear or have them hear me. I've tried safari and chrome and even tried it from another family members MacBook. I've checked every setting a zillion times. the sound preference are all set correctly and i have updated Catalina as OS The ONLY thing i notice is I am NOT getting the little window that came up asking me if BBO can use my microphone... But i don't know how to get that to come back . Anyone have any clues? Thanks, John (skiborder)

That is the one I am clicking,lol... but it doesn't put me into a game with players. when i use safari. It only puts me into a table with no players.

I'm trying to understand why in the last month I can' t click the casual play button and get put into a game. For years, I would click and almost instantaneously be put in a game with three other partners. Now I get up in with three empty table that hardly ever populate.... This is ONLY on my MacBook with High Sierra and with Safari... Chrome seems to be working. and my iPhone is working. I reported it to BBO and it never got fixed. Anyone with any info? Thanks

Why NO Scores for Completed Tournaments
skiborder replied to skiborder's topic in BBO Tournaments Discussion
Thanks.. That's a great URL for me to save for the future.... It's not the one that comes on the browser version of the software that i use. or at least i don't see how to get to it on my menu... but its very helpful -
I saw my friends playing in a speedball and went in later to try and find out how they placed... but you can't really do this and i don't understand why, When you click on completed tournaments it only shows you a very limited number and certainly not going back a few hours. There is plenty of room in the search window so it didn't hit any limit. You can scroll though and see pending or running tournaments but you can't see a lot under the completed tournaments... In fact if i type in speedball, i usually cannot see any listed. Is there a reason for this. Seems like the more friends you make on bbo, the more this could interest you. John

If BBO creates the API to connect to the play part of the software, programers can use whatever language they want as long as the connect to the API from BBO. Its unfortunate if your saying that we can never have any customization of robots to play with. People would like to play either different systems or there own set of menu driven gadgets and conventions. I would have no problem if BBO did it but it could become far more robust if it were opened to the world of programmers rather than just the one that BBO has. I'm not criticizing his work , but i would pay and love to use other robots as well to make my bridge experience better for the future.

It would be great if there were different bots available to play with. I play with the bbo gib all the time. I learned to play bridge with it. And they don't talk back to you and they play quickly, lol That said, i just tried learning precision and gave up because other than the pro i was learning from, there was no way to practice. I know that bbo plate must be full.... but if outside developers could develop bots it would be great... u could get them in the app store and a system of revenue sharing could be between the developer and BBO. people would develop all kinds of bots and you could chose the partner and system that you liked. The details seem easy to develop and i don't want to push any particular idea...just the idea that more bots and gibs the better... and there could be BBO approved ones only so that after a beta test they could tell ones that delivered and worked.

I agree... some way of filtering would be great. Manually is a waste, by the time i find a table i like it is gone

I love bbo. BBO can see how much I pay to bbo every month (skiborder). I just want to register a complaint about the free limit to 3 on the daylong tournaments. I think it is a bit cheesy. I was looking forward to it because of the number of people in competition. The fee daylongs have way less participation. 90% of what i play on bbo is for a fee and I think this restriction wan't nice and certainly didn't show any appreciation for those who pay a minimum of $100 month playing. The four extra days they could get is $1... I mean really? And you can't even pay to play the extra times, but if u could it would just bring the amount of people playing down. It is the only feature on bbo that gets that number of people playing. imho

Without Stratification there really isn't much of a reason for anyone but the top players to compete with each other if u expect to earn points... and its expensive if you know yr not going to have a chance at points.. They need stratification to interest more players. and interesting that it seems like the total number of players playing so far is about equal to the numbers I've encountered playing the "daylong" tournament events. With stratification there should be more
