  1. I agree with Phil ... 1M - 1m 3m - 3M Is a double-fit auction but M is the "established" suit . - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Exception: 1S - 2H 3H - 3S Hearts are the established suit and 3S is a cue-bid. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1m - 1M 3M - 4m M is absolutely the trump suit and 4m is a cue-bid
  2. One common agreement is: -- K asks for Kount -- A asks for Attitude No way to to distinguish between 2 or 4 . Partner will have to rely on dummy and the bidding for clues, if any .
  3. 3♣ in my book is GF, slammish. 4♣ by Opener is accepting ♣. Now if one uses Zel's treatment, after 4C: 4D = negative and the next 4 steps SHOW RKC... .. 4H = 1/4, etc... So, because of the 2S interference, maybe Responder uses the 4D = negative BECAUSE of NO ♠ Ctrl. 4H ( "next step" ) by Opener according to Zel ASKS for key cards ( implying ♠ Ctrl ). 5C ( reply by responder ) then is the 3rd step = 2 - ♣Q .
  4. I'm a bit concerned about Responder having to use 5NT to show a forcing 1 2 5 5 hand . An example I had posted back in August had N/S with 32 combined hcp and they had a cold grand. How can Opener know if a key card is missing ? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Edit: Probably the example hands I showed aren't the best. Because if Responder were missing the ♣Ace, he would have made a a NF 1 2 5 5 bid of 4NT.
  5. I'm dying to see partner's hand .
  6. When ♥ are trump, 5S can be used as the GSF ... and in the recent thread, Zel's scheme ( post # 9 in that thread ) would prove beneficial: thread 4H - 4S 5C - 5S! ?? ..5NT = any 1 (6♣ asks which) ..6♣ = 2 including the Q (6♦ asks) ..6♦ = AK ..6♥ = none ..higher bids = AKQ + side feature ( 7♣ here )
  7. There are a couple of other GF options not discussed yet after: 1C - 1H ?? 1).. 3S! splinter... Who knows, partner may just might make a 4D cuebid... Most likely partner will think he has "wasted values" in ♠ and rebid 4H . Regardless, now 4S will become a convenient kickback-RKC and I'm not stopping until at least 6H is reached. EDIT : When ♥ are trump, Meckwell plays 4S as kickback and 4NT as exclusion w/ ♠void . 2) the CWNN ( Convention With No Name ) : .. 4C ostensibly showing 4♥ and 6♣ with GF values concentrated in those 2 suits. This time 4S will be 6Ace-kickback including the ♥Q but the ♣Q is included in the K-ask. 3) Then there is the GGG ( gnasher's gameforce gadget ) over a 1H Response . .. 2S, then Responder's 2NT! will ask for distribution and if 2S was a real suit; but I use this one to show a GF 3 card ♥ raise. Perhaps a 4-level reply over 2NT! could show a GF 4 card ♥ raise( such as 4C ) much like Zia's in post # 4 . That way it would not interfere with the "CWNN" .
  8. A "flawed" Gambling 3NT that could not open 3NT with a solid 7 card suit and 1 or 2 outside Kings or Aces .
  9. Interesting point, but I don't think so. Once you ask for Kings, regardless of level, it guarantees ALL key cards AND the trump Q ( or no concern about her highness due to extra trump length ). That said, I don't see a downside to asking for a missing a King since no answer should be at the 7-level.
  10. Not sure what is "standard" either.... so you need prior agreement .
  11. Better yet ( because of the known 12 card fit ) -- from the recent thread: http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/56026-7-atb/page__p__672599#entry672599 When ♥ are agreed, 5S! ( over 3D here ) can be used as Josephine which allows room to identify which top honor:
  12. (1D ) - 1H - ( 3D ) - 5D! = Voidwood ( X ) - P ! - ( 6D ) - 6H P ! = ROPI , pass! = 1 key card excluding the ♦ Ace
  13. When ♥ are agreed, 5S! can be used as Josephine which allows room to distinguish : 5NT = zilch 6C = ♥Q 6D = ♥K 6H = ♥A 7H = 2 of 3
  14. OK, Hanoi .... we're ready for partner's hand ( or at least I am ) .
  15. I think I like this option where Responder's 4S rebid ( over the 2/1 GF ) shows a max preemptive hand that was flawed for a 4S opening .. such as a high outside honor : 1S - 2C 4S - 6S [ I don't like 3S over 2C, because that shows a stronger hand, sets trumps and demands cue-bids. ]
  16. I agree that that sequence should not exist.... I took it from your post # 12
  17. 1) For those NOT rebidding 2H, don't you risk a RKC-ask NOT for ♥ as the agreed suit... and then how are you supposed to find out about the ♥-Q ? [ I'm assuming 2D was 2/1 GF ] . 2) One interesting note about the following sequence: 1H - 2C! 2D - 2H 3C 3C normally would be a cue-bid and NOT a double-fit, but in this case, since you have the top 3 honors in ♣, it would have to show ♣ support and most likely 4 cards.
  18. I'm sorry, but since ♦ have not been bid, 5S would ask for at least 2nd Rnd Ctrl in ♦ -- not trump quality.
  19. I agree with Fluff.... about the 3S cue ... but Responder should eventually take charge with RKC since Opener has shown the "big hand" and NO shortness with the 3H rebid ( Jacoby ) ..... and settle in 6NT missing 1 key card . Responder can almost count 12 tricks ( from the combined hcp ) even if partner has only a 5 card ♥ suit.
  20. " Partner either has a minimum takeout double with support for all suits (so 1S should be fine), or some kind of a strong hand that will force me again [ so I'd like to be able to show my 2nd ( equal length ) Major without reversing ]. " p - ( 3D ) - X - ( p ) 3S - ( p ) - 4D! - ( p ) 4H
  21. I'm ready to see partner's hand ....
  22. If you played Voidwood, I'd bid 5D! ( RKC for ♥, Excluding the ♦Ace ).
  23. Another question. How often does Gunnar preempt with 4 cards in the other-Major ? And, is that commonplace these days ? It used to be taboo .
