The Diam void scares me.

寻找自己的错误才是学习桥牌的唯一进步方法。 Off topic: I plead ignorance.... What are all of those "little boxes" with numbers/letters in them ?

2D - 2NT! 4C! ( 4 5 0 4, strength unknown ) - 4H all pass
-
If your Flannery is 11-15 hcp, then you have a 31 -35 combined. I'd start with the 2NT! "asking" response. If Opener shows 4 5 2 2 max ( 3S or 3NT replies ), then you have an easy 6NT bid .

Good point... but in this particular game, I don't think any play Neg-Free-bids... -

Partner's ( Opener ) hand: K x x x A Q J 10 x x K J x Makes 11 tricks in either ♥ or ♠ . -- Pass ( by Responder ) risked missing the ♠ suit, which occurred at 1 table and the opps played in a ♣ partial and received a top. -- 2S IMO is an overbid, but 10 of 13 tables bid it and were "rewarded" [ EDIT "not punished" ( mikeh ) ].... this time... [ EDIT: Thus, reinforcing their wayward bidding ] . -- Neg-DBL seemed right, but only 2 tables bid it -- ending in game . -

On my planet kickback after an attempted sign-off, if replier has the higher # of keycards, then he answers as if the trump-Q were asked for . ♦ are trump : 4NT! ( 0/3 ) - 5D ( attempted sign-off ) ?? ..pass = zero keycards .. 5H = 3 keycards and ♦Q + ♥K .. 5S = 3 keycards and ♦Q + ♠K, no ♥K ..5NT = 3 keycards, NO ♦Q, but have outside King(s) .............this way you can ask for Specific Kings next with 6C if warranted. .. 6C = 3 keycards and ♦Q + ♣K, NO major Kings .. 6D = 3 keycards but NO ♦Q and NO outside Kings. -

Thx for the clarification . -
Fred G suggested a "souped up" version of the impossible Spade where 2NT! then asks Responder to clarify . His example involved a 2D rebid by Opener : 1H - 1NT! 2D - 2S! You can play that 2S means either : 1) a strong diamond raise or 2) a good 3C bid. If responder has a lesser hand with long clubs, he bids 3C directly over 2D. After 2S! : 2NT! ( asks ) - ?? - 3C = good Club hand ( direct 3C over 2D would be a lesser hand ) - 3D = strong Diam raise - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For the given problem I suggest : 1H - 1NTF 2H - 2S! = various hands 2NT! = asks for clarification - ?? - 3C = both minors - 3H = doubleton ♥ limit raise [ The 3 card limit raise would be a direct 3H over 2H ]

White vs Red , 2/1 context IMPs ( if it matters ) 1H - ( 2C ) - ?? Q 10 8 7 6 2 8 4 A 4 2 Q 3 In your treatment, do you have enough for an immediate 2S Response ? If not, would you make a Neg-DBL ? Or would you initially pass waiting for a reopening DBL or another bid by partner ?

I agree with your treatment... including the 6 Ace key card excluding the ♠-Ace . But after the 4NT reply ( 0/3 ) isn't 5C the ♦Q-ask ? ( but the "asker" already has that ) : After 4NT - ?? .............. 5C = ♦-Q-ask ( next step ) .............. 5H = specific K-ask ( 2nd non-trump step or just use 5S ) .............. 6C = 3rd Round Ctrl-ask in ♣ [ Of course, after the 6C-ask, the answer is still the same ... 6♦ ] -

If you use 4D! = Minorwood, and 4D! is correct here, then if you want to ask for kings, you have to use something else besides 5D - - normally it is kickback-for-kings ( 5H! ) - - since 5D is reserved for sign-off . -
Side Issue: What do you use 1H - 2S for ? Zelandakh's 2S-single jump would give you "more room" to show shortness somewhere . You would be one level lower to better explore..... including voids.

Six of one, half dozen of the other

6♠ is the higher percentage slam. 6NT requires the 3-3 ♦ split with the Q onside. .. whereas 6♠ can still make with : 1) ♦Q offside but still 3-3 split or 2) ♦Q onside and 4-2 split 6NT could still make with ♦Q onside and 4-2 split but would need the ♣ finesse ( K onside ) as well. -
Reviewing: 1C - 1S 2H - 2S! ( 5+, GF - - I think many agree with this ) 3H ( agree too ) - 3S! ( advance cue - - how many would really do this?? ) 5D! ( voidwood for ♥- - Really ?? ) - 6H
-
Simple soul on the 2nd one also : p - 2C 2D! ( positive but no 5 cd suit w/2 of top 3 ) - 2H 3D ( 5 cd suit ) - 3S 4S - ?? partner has to have one of the minor Kings for his "positive" response*, but could he have both? 4S - 4NT 5C ( 0/3 ) - 5NT 6D ( ♦-K but no ♣-K ) - 6S EDIT : You might be in trouble if 2D! means : at least an A or K or 2Q's .. the 2Q hand with no K's will be a problem .
-
In my auction ( post # 15 ), WE are the ones bidding 3♥! ( Un -Un ) , so wouldn't you need 3NT next to suggest stops in BOTH "reds" ?
-
Then Opener bids 4C earlier... etc . to 6C.
-
1st hand ... using Un-Un : 1C - (2NT!) - 3H! [ showing ♠] - ( X ) p - ( p ) - XX [ need more info ] - ( p ) 4C - ( p ) - 4D! [ kickback ..] or just bid 6C
-
3rd hand. Open 2C with this 3 loser hand ( similar to ahydra but different ): 2C - 2D ( waiting but positive; no 5 cd suit w/ 2 of top 3 ) 3C - 3S ( 5+ cd suit ) 3NT - 4C 4D! ( kickback when suit agreement at 4-level ) - 4S ( 1 key, has to be ♠Ace ) 5D! ( K-ask ) - 5H ( ♥K ) 5S ( 2nd K-ask ) - 6C ( no more ) pass at IMP/ 6NT at MP
-
Possibly slammish from North's perspective only if he has a way of asking for shortness .
