  1. Maybe the question you should be asking is WHY are they so slow?
  2. "Tourney #7937" I was playing (under another nick) in the Free Automated Fun tourney and I was trying to claim on board 5. The ops refused the claim so I tried again and I got bounced out of the tourney. I assume this was for taking to long to play the next card. I think the software should be adjusted so that it doesn't bounce people when they are trying to claim. Thanks for listening. Just a thought . . . trying to improve the site.
  3. Also, if the definition of a psyche is . . a deliberate and gross misstatement of honor strength and/or of suit length. . . then, if opening with 10 points is a psyche in one case, why wouldn't it be a psyche in every case? . . . and if it isn't. . then why not? And if the answer relates back to the intent of the player making the bid, then how does a TD determine a players intent, especially on an opening bid?
  4. The definition of a psych is in the laws: It is certainly possible to psych an opening bid. Isn't there something additional about intent to mislead the ops?
  5. I enjoyed reading this topic. As a very new TD with limited bridge play experience I am struggling with this part of the task. I am wondering if there is any place that I can go to read about how decisions and equitable adjustments are made. One example that I comes to mind immedaitely is what is the correct adjustment when, on the last board of a tourney, after the bidding in complete, the lead made, and the dummy down, one of the remaining players (delcarer or defender) leaves or gets disconnected and does not return? I figure that it's too late to sub and too early to use the GIB so what is left? A == ? Also, is there such a thing as a psyche on an opening bid? And if so could someone please define it for me? I am confused. Thanks, :)
  6. Ok and thank you for the response. I will take your advice and just forget the whole thing but I am still confused by this!
  7. Today while looking around, I clicked on a BBO HBG (Happy Bridge Group) tournament and was surprised to see that my nick had been blacklisted from playing in the tournament. I don't have a clue why I would be blacklisted. I think I tried to sign up on their website once only to give up when I discovered I needed an email client to join. (I only use gmail) Can anyone shed any light on this for me?
  8. I live in PST but I am usually online from 2-3PM until I get tired. That would be from 5-6PM your time and until you/we get tired. I used to play duplicate with my father and then again years later, online. I just recently started playing here and I am trying to brush up. I play sayc (or try to) but I am not too good and some of the Jacoby stuff and I am lousy at carding. I keep trying to learn these though and I want to improve. My name is Terry and my BBO nick is Geoduck. If you would like to try, look me up :) :)
