  1. Reopening 4NT is just out of the question imo. Do you play double as general values or something and 4NT as 3 suited takeout? I would X. I think partner looking at xxx in spades should just close his eyes and bid 5H directly but I dunno. Eager to see stronger players comment. If I passed originally and partner reopens 4S, boy I wish I had a way to show a 5.5H bid. Grue switch here!?
  2. well 75% of the voters bid 4S (me included) so i guess you get some field protection. we'll all lose the same amount of money as you. and it sounds like doubling worked out just as poorly, so nothing matters.
  3. come on guys you can't seriously be suggesting that we reach 3N on this type of deal, give me a break. double dummy simulations don't change that.
  4. 4D looks obvious - I don't get people bidding 3N. Keep 4H and 5D in the picture. We are loaded in partner's suits.
  5. Wait what? This sounds like 4531 to me. With 64 you just stayman then texas.
  6. We have had newcomers post a lot of hands and questions for periods of time. thepossum is just the latest in this cycle. This should be encouraged.
  7. Oh, your Stayman is very non standard. In that case, yeah, I guess you might as well lie about your hand to your opponents while inviting. Funny.
  8. if you don't have a call in your NT structure for showing 5-5 minors invite, then I would show it as 5-5 minors GF in your system however you do that. This may not be a satisfactory answer to your question, but it is a very common bridge problem that no call will show your hand perfectly. You will have the option of showing your values but not the nature of your hand, or vice versa. When it's close, show the nature of your hand, overbid, and guarantee finding the correct strain. On this type of hand, 1N might even go down when 5m makes! What you definitely should NOT do is bid Stayman. You say you got lucky that partner bid 3(NT I assume) and made it. I would say that you got lucky that partner didn't bid 4S! edit: oh apparently 2H response to stayman denies 4S. whatever, other way around then, if partner respond 2S and you bid 2N, now she bids 4H...
  9. does Lightner actually request/demand dummy's first bid suit? That seems weird. I always just thought it was "find me" and most often based on a void. I know the results are posted but it looked like an obvious club lead to me. and it's BBO pickups, trying to pick apart the auction is hopeless. regardless, blaming their auction for not helping us to find the lead is not useful. you will always find people who bid differently from you, and you just have to do the best you can.
  10. double is fine, 2NT for me now but maybe 2S is better? Don't know. Common here is to play 1N = 11-14 over a minor and 12-16 over a major in the balance.
  11. I'm collecting yellow bubbles!
  12. Show only the hand that has the decision in order not to bias people. Having said that, I would pass at both forms, and pass is definitely more appealing at MPs
  13. The claim feature would be indeed nice, but when I've figured out the hand (or not), I just "view solution" and then "next hand" so it seems like not a big deal to me.
  14. does everyone really play that 4S is weaker than 3S? either i am being super weird or you guys are all non standard x and bid should be a flexible hand. this hand is not flexible. i'm going 3S
  15. I have also misclicked pass. Instead of confirmation or timing delays, I would just move the bidding buttons farther from the pass button.
  16. man, you have some low card fees then!!! one session here is something like $12, something like 22 to 27 boards if you play 3 daylong MPs on BBO, that's $1.17 for 24 boards
