  1. If you aren't bidding 1h-2d-3h, what hand are you saving 3H for?? Failing to jump to 3H leaves you unable to distinguish hands like this from hands with less solid suits. Hard for partner to cooperate and cue bid having only small singleton heart.

  2. I'm running my first game today, a mostly relaxed, "friendly" game so I don't expect any calls for MI, BITs or failure to alert. :) What are the most common calls in a club game? Insufficient bids and bids out of turn. Leads out of turn. Bridgemate problems, I put the wrong xxx in here. Where are my boards, we have the wrong boards. Thanks

  3. At an invited game or some tournaments we get compared to perhaps 15 other tables, all human. I'd like one of those other tables to be 4 robots playing the deal, so we have a refence point on how well they do compared to humans, and we can inspect their bidding. Alternately, is there an easy way to re-create the deal and ask some robots to bid and play it? thanks

  4. It is standard in NA for 3H to show solid hearts and some extra values as well. It’s not about being ‘more hearts oriented’, whatever that means. It’s about describing your hand to partner, whose bidding tasks are made easier if you describe your hand accurately. Imo, if you wanted to look up what a 3H rebid looked like, this would be one of the examples one might see….the seventh heart is a bonus but AKQJxx with around 15-17 hcp would be normal. The main point is that you are telling partner that hearts are solid. Bidding 2H then 3H specifically denies a holding such as the one we have and, accordingly, partner should definitely NOT play you for this suit/hand. Jumps in game forcing auctions, imo, should be reserved for specific hands so as to allow partner to participate n the auction with some idea what one holds.

  5. I would like a bit more if in second seat. Looks fine as a fourth seat bid.

  7. If you don't want "unresolved canapé sequences", and no nebulous diamond bid, I think you need some kind of constructive two-suiters at the two-level (like Roman 2M). I've toyed with the following idea, and find it a bit strange that I haven't seen anyone play like this (might be major flaws that I don't see): 1C = Strong 1D = 4+D. 4441, or 4D 5+M, or 5D 4+C, or 6+D. 1M = 4M and longer side suit, or 6+M. Could include balanced shapes too I guess. 1NT = Weak. 2C = 6+C or 5C and 4D. 2D = Multi. 2M = 5+M and 4+C. My intention was to use this with a Swedish Club, so 1C would be 11-13 NT or 17+ any, while 1NT would be 14-16 NT. There's also the Moscito/Magic Diamond style MAFIA systems where the major openings are a bit nebulous: could be any two-suiter (canapé or not) as well as single-suited (5332 counts as single-suited here). I've also seen variants including 4432 and 4333 shapes. Magic Diamond uses transfer responses to the major suit openings, so no negative 1NT. Here's my old system notes with a strong club and transfer style Magic Diamond openings (very similar to MOSCITO): http://snortingmaradonas.se/erik/relayclub.pdf A friend of mine uses a nebulous diamond that denies holding a four card major: 1C = 15+ any 1D = 10-14, unbalanced and no major. 0+ diamonds (could be 3-3-0-7 for instance). 1M = "Magic Diamond": 10-14, 4+M but not 4333/4432. Longer minor possible. 1NT = 11-14, no five card major. 2X = Weak. Here's a "Lite Version" of Magic Diamond: http://www.brenning.se/pp/MagicDlight.pdf

  8. Interesting suggestion. I am sure most would love to see it soon.

  9. And again, it would be nice if a four robot table was included in the traveller for the daylongs... It's such a trivial thing to implement and would be an interesting starting point for discussion.

  10. You can export the deal and ask four robots to play it at a teaching table, someone with experience in this will explain how. The real comparison to humans is when a pair of robots play in a pairs tournament against regular human pairs... they do not do well.
